Keywords: musical improvisation, rationality, femininity, playfulness, harmony, unconsciousness
This paper explores the transformative and liberating potential of playfulness and musical improvisation as spiritually intuitive and psycho-analytical methods for (de)constructing the self and femininity. Analysing the cerebral and dominating context of Western thought, it examines the value of harmony against the backdrop of rational rigidity, emphasizing the capacity of improvisation to break through unconscious cognitive restraints and biases. This exploration will translate into a multimedia work, employing A Capella vocal harmonies as the foundation for narrative storytelling.

(...) I aim to artistically explore the mediatization of our perception and its correlation with maladaptive forms of derealization. I aim to translate my research into a fictionalised alternate reality that reflects on the uncanniness of it all: on the familiarity as well as the strangeness/ absurdity of nowadays’ hyperconnected (Western) society through the eyes of someone experiencing derealization.
